|Provide insight into the history and importance of being an Emergency Medical Responder. Related terminologies will be defined and the participants will have knowledge of the scope of practice of the responder, as well as how to maintain responder’s well-being and self-control in an emergency situation.
|Learn about stress during emergency situations: sources, warning signs, manifestations and factors affecting stress. The management of stress will be discussed. Participants shall also be guided on the management of medical examiner cases.
|Learn the needed approaches for self-protection when responding to emergency calls. This includes topics on critical and violent incidents/situations, workplace issues, communicable diseases, infection control routine and other behavioral emergencies.
|Knowledge on the general standard of care as imposed by the locality and country; the legal concerns such as consent, negligence and abandonment, assault and battery, Good Samaritan law; and safeguarding of confidential records as well as requirements for special reports.
Learn about interventions specific to emergency situations are discussed in this module. This include topics on splinting and control of bleeding, and dressing and bandaging.
|Participants will be taught how to “size-up” a scene as the first responder to an emergency call. Guidelines for field triage together with the algorithm of trauma patient and medical
patient will be discussed.
|Knowledge on medical and trauma related emergencies such as: respiratory and cardiac emergencies; bleeding, head injury, wounds, burn and shock emergencies.
|Learn the general areas in assessing a victim during emergency response. Participants will also be guided on how to do history taking.
|Participants will be given insights into the different tools which are being used by the responders in emergency calls. They will learn how to prevent injury among the responders themselves.
This is a program composed of online didactic through our self-paced learning management system. It deals with concepts, principles and techniques of assessment using various tools during emergency situations. The learners are expected to respond appropriately when presented simulated and actual emergency scenarios.
